What customers say?

“ A fabulous little place excellen5 value and lovely surroundings ”

- Christine Britton -

“ Cant praise this little piece of culinary heaven enough. The owner doesn't speak English, but we were lucky we had a couple from England on one of the other tables, where the gentleman was fluent in french and translated for the owner. No menu, you get what they're cooking, but wow, the duck we had was perfect and you could tell the chef cared for each dish and knows how to mix flavours. The desert was stunning too. Beatiful and quaint setting in the sheltered garden and my 22 month old granddaughter could run around. Some of the best food Ive ever had. All 6 of us agreed (which is unlike my family!) ”

“ We had the most delicious lunch & would highly recommend a visit!! ”

- Emily Bowhill -

“ One of my favourite places. Delicious from start to finish and have eaten here many, many times and never had the same dish twice nor have I been disappointed. Tranquil surroundings and always made to feel welcome. Simply perfect. ”

- Alison Cole -

“ Not your typical restaurant. It feels as if sitting at your loviest aunts dining table in het well kept garden. Don’t expect a long list of dishes you are being served what is available (in low season at least). Also a really thoughtful vegetarian option. We loved the experience and would highly recommend going here. The food was tasty and prepared with love and care. ”

“ A gem. A wonderful location and super food. We had a family lunch at La Petite Auberge and enjoyed it immensely. The food on offer is the menu du jour - and that is great. This is French cooking at its best - local ingredients prepared with huge care and love to create simple but beautiful dishes. Utterly fabulous. ”

“ Beautiful setting, superb farmhouse food (you get what you're given, no choice), friendly atmosphere and a free glass of a very strong home made spirit! Could not recommend more. ”

- CHRIS TURRILL -

“ We stayed in a guest house nearby, after being dropped off by taxi we realised that most guests would generally have a car. After looking online we found this place was around 45 mins walk away. Off we set unsure if this place was even going to be open. When we arrived we were welcomed in by the lovely host. She was a little surprised that we wanted a table that evening, I assume most book. We were taken through to the rear terrace, only one other French family there. This place is not like other restaurants, this really is being taken into someone home for dinner. With our broken French we ordered just a main course, no menu or choice but this didn’t matter, she simply asked us if we had any allergies. The food arrived and we had a selection of simple high quality ingredients assembled into a delicious French meal. We had a rolled steak, sliced potatoes, fois gras, ratatouille & some melon & parma ham. These descriptions don’t do it justice. Everything was delicious, considering we hadn’t booked she whipped up a meal with no trouble. I highly recommend this place to anyone staying nearby. It was such a treat to have a very traditional French meal in effectively someone’s home. ”
